NFS access

Hi,

We are trying to set up a shared NFS store between two esxi hosts in separate clusters (same physical location)

vCenter Managment  IP  - 172.16.2.1

VMkernel adapters

vmk0 - 172.16.2.2 - NFS

vmk1 - 172.16.2.3 - ESXi Managment

The device running the NFS share is at 172.16.2.200

When setting up permissions for the NFS share we were adding the IP address of the vmk0, but were getting access denied (from the NFS device) when attempted to create a data store. The only way we were able to create a data store was by adding the vmk1 IP address (ESXi management nic) to the device running the share.

So the question we would like to get an answer for is what is the purpose of the NFS VMkernel if it's not being used for connecting to the NFS share?

Thansk
