Fusion 10.1.1 (7520154) won't install due to Security & Privacy setting?

I have "Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere" via the "sudo spctl --master-disable" hack. But when I try to install Fusion it complains that it can't install because of that setting. Trying to run a VM just gives an "Internal Error" message. What do I have to do to get my upgrade from 7.x to install?

MacBook Pro 2015 with latest High Sierra.

Could you Open Mac OS X System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General and check if software from 'VMware, Inc' is blocked?
