VMX file is corrupted

I opened Fusion 8.5 on my iMac for the first time in several months and got the message "VMX file is corrupted".

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Community,

it is possible to recreate the configuration (.vmx) file from the VM's latest vmware.log file. If you have a PC, you can use the batch script that I've posted at HowTo: Recreating a .vmx from the vmware.log file and recreate the .vmx file yourself. If not, please attach the vmware.log file to a reply post, and I'll do this for you.

In case the VM has snapshots (...-00000x.vmdk files in the VM's folder), please let me know which one has the latest time stamp, i.e. is likely the current snapshot.
