Hi All ,
can someone comment on the following .
1:with vcenter 6.5 appliance update manger is integrated so there is no requirement of separte update manger machine.
traditionally when we patch esxi host we put it into maintence mode first and then remediate.
is there any improvement in functionoingof update manger in 6.5 wherein it can automatically put the hosts in manintence mode .
i think the best practice still to individullay put host into maintence mode and then remediate .
Please suggest your thoughts on above points.
no requirement of separte update manger.
It is always recommended to take host in main mode and then go for remediation. this will same your time if any VM have issue with vMotion.
yes i was talking this .thanks for sharing the article.
just reading this and found something interesting .so enabling parallel remediation is something new to update manager 6.5??
parallel remediation was at least in vmware 5.x
thnaksfor your response.sometimes there are affinity rules configured for vms which are vmotion sensitive .
in that case parrel remidiation failed .in such scenriosit is advisable to manually put hosts in maintence mode and upgrade . what yu suggest.
also parrelel remeidiation start from very first host in clutser and if very first first host not going to maintence mode because of background drs issues ,will pareel remidiation skip the first host and
pick the second and so forth .??
