vSAN HCL questions on driver versions

In regards to the driver and firmware version specified on the vSAN HCL, must you always stick with that exact version, or are newer version of the firmware/driver always supported and recommended?

I have always stuck with EXACTLY what is says, but I thought I would ask.

Hello wreedMH

"or are newer version of the firmware/driver always supported and recommended?"

Short answer: No - it will be on the HCL when it is supported.

Only for firmware of drives does the HCL specify 'minimum' firmware and thus later version being fine - for anything else this not the same: go with what is on the HCL in the matching driver/firmware pairs and configuration it states (e.g. AF!=Hybrid, Passthrough!=RAID0).
