i am reading vmware vcp6 foundation official certificate one of the question that i see is :
Which of the following is the correct setting to enable Jumbo Frames on a
vSwitch?
a. 9000 Kbps
b. 1500 KB
c. 9000 KB
d. 1500 Kbps
in answer sheet choose c
why ?
by default Jumbo frame is 1500 KB
why choose C ?
BR
Jumbo frames are enabled by increasing the default MTU of 1500 bytes, up to a maximum of 9000 bytes: VMware Knowledge Base
so thanks
but in question correct setting to enable Jumbo Frames when we enable jumbo frame by default is 1500KB
is that correct ?
it is by default 1500KB why select 9000KB?
BR
1500 is a regular frame and therefore the default vSphere setting.
Some other number larger than 9000 would enable jumbo frames, 9000 is the maximum value in vSphere.
The units are what are problematic here. If the answers contain "KB" or "Kbps" then all the answers are entirely wrong. Standard MTU is 1500 bytes and not kilobytes and not kilobits per second. Similarly, Jumbo Frames start at 9000 bytes. Units matter for this very reason.
