Can't assign vmnic0 to vSwitch0 uplink.

I assigned vmnic0 as an uplink to a Distributed VIrtual Switch.

Now VMNetwork has no uplinks.  I try to assign vmnic0 as an uplink to it, but it's not available.

Does the DVS consume the uplink?

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

An uplink can only be assigned to a single vSwitch/vDS. It's basically like in a physical environment, if a network cable is plugged in to one switch, it cannot be plugged in to another switch, unless you remove it from the first one.
