Hi,

During customisation operations on a linked clone pool, we see this in the event log:

The description for Event ID 3 from source VMware View Composer Guest Agent cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Can't open log file

the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

Any ideas?

I can't see that any harm is happening with the device, everything looks fine.

Reinstalling the agent doesn't help. Though I should investigate just in case there is something fishy going on...

Is the service installed and running on the VM? Also, during the agent install did you make sure the composer option was checked?

Service is running - we run linked clones, so is a requirement, so composer must also be installed otherwise we wouldn't be able to create linked clone desktops.

Found this thread while Googling for the exact error entry you posted about. Did you ever come across a solution/reason regarding it happening?
