Is there any way to tell what applications someone is using on virtual desktops? A free tool or a powershell script?
We've been doing VDI in one form or another for about 12 years now. Mostly for off shore consultants and a few very specific use cases. 12 years ago it was to allow people outside of the company to use a specific application in a more secure manner. We'v pretty much given a virtual desktop to anyone that requests one since then. We have now virtualized the original application in the cloud. I suspect that 80% of our VMs are still being used for this one specific app. If that is the case, i don't want to give them a whole VM. It's maybe 100 VMs.
