Upgrading vCenter Server to Appliance and eSXI

Hi All,

I am going to be performing my first upgrade on my VMware environment. Right now I am running vCenter server 6.5 on Windows and eSXI 6.0 on my host.

I have done some research and by all accounts, it looks like I can migrate directly from vCenter Server 6.5 to vCenter Appliance 6.5 and then post that, I can manually upgrade my eSXI host to 6.5 - Dell provides an ISO for this with updated drivers. Does this sound right? Once again, I am a novice so please excuse the ignorance.Thanks.

You cannot migrate from a Windows 6.5 to the appliance on 6.5 at this time but you can deploy a new vCSA and migrate the hosts.

That is for migrating from vCenter 6.0 to vCSA 6.5. OP is already on vCenter 6.5 for Windows. There is no lateral migration path to the vCSA from that version yet.

It won't allow you to go from 6.5 Windows to 6.5 VSA. Guess I shouldn't have stayed up to date.
