Containers and Container Networking with NSX

Want to learn more about the world beyond virtual machines?  Please take a look at this whitepaper from the NSBU TPM group "Containers and Container Networking for Network Engineers" that will help you understand the value NSX brings to the world of cloud native...  With lots of talk/interest/buzz around things like containers, microservices, PaaS, cloud native, let's demystify the confusion and take a look at the ecosystem and what NSX is doing with that ecosystem.  This will demonstrate why NSX is the clear choice when looking for a network and security virtualization platform.

Hi nfurman,

in the document you start to talk of NSX-T, then you drop the term and continue to use the "NSX" term (without -T).

Since those 2 are different products with different network implications, I'd like to know if when saying "NSX" you intended to say "NSX-T".

Reading further in the doc it may appear clear that you are indeed talking about NSX-T (i.e. when describing the NSX-T Container Plugin at page 40).

Can you confirm how should we read the term "NSX"?

Thanks

CNI (container networking interface) support is only available with the NSX-T Data Center platform (like you pointed out, this is described in more detail later in the document when talking about multi-hypervisor, multiple app frameworks, etc).  These functionalities are not supported with NSX Data Center for vSphere.

But good catch, NSX should actually say NSX Data Center Smiley Wink
