UBUNTU Client - Open-Vm-Tools not showing as running in VMWare Console

Hi,

First of all, please forgive any terminology errors. I am not managing the VMWare, just the client.

I have an Ubuntu Server 16.04 server running in VMWare 5.5. I tried to install the VMWare tools and it told me to install Open-VM-Tools (and then locked the machine)... I rebooted and install open-vm-tools no problem but my VMWare admin tells me that VMWare still is not recognizing that the VM-Tools are installed. Am I missing something?

You can  check if the vm kernel modules are running by command lsmod
