I've been running VMware on windows 10 - host, and ubuntu 16.04 as the guest. It worked great for about six weeks. Within the last week, I'm unable to even login. It will boot up, but once I click in the console, the screen turns black. If I leave it in console mode, I can see the login page, but once I click in it, turns black. I've tried re-installing ubuntu, played with Unity mode (does not work on Linux), removing/adding drives CD/DVD player, trying different display options, folder sharing. After hours of trying, I don't have a clue as to why it won't work. Help?
