windows 2003 to 2008 64bit upgrade, vmscsi issue

Hello,

I have a really strange one.

I am attempting to upgrade a windows 2003 (I know they are really old now) x64 virtual machine to WIndows 2008 x64. This machine is running on Vsphere 6.5 (hosts are also on 6.5) & was originally p2v'd.

The VM is using the PVSCSI controller, works fine with Windows 2003. I have slipstreamed pvscsi driver into the boot.wim. The VM upgrades most of the way, then it finally reboots & then fails asking for vmscsi.sys. I also downloaded the flp with the vmscsi.sys driver & added this into the DVD

I have built a new VM using the paravirtual controller & the Slipstreamed DVD. This works fine. I cannot see anywhere on this VM the vmscsi.sys driver.

I have another VM that is also windows 2003, previously p2v'd & this upgrades without issue. THis is using the buslogic parallel driver.

Anybody else seen this?

Thanks,

Matt
