Hello, I have an ASUS z9pa-u8 Motherboard with Xeon e5-2670 CPU. I am trying to connect my RX480 GPU to a VM using the passthrough feature in ESXi. I have gone through the procedure of marking the device as available for passthrough and added it to my Windows 7 VM. When I start the VM, the entire host locks up. I have to do a hard reset to get the system back up and running. I have tried every suggestion offered on the web about this issue, but have not been able to get the GPU to work. I updated to the latest version of ESXi 6.5 as well. This did not help. I also tried another graphics card (RX460) to see if it was a problem with the first GPU--the result was the same. I cannot help but feel it is something related to the configuration. Has anyone had success in passing their RX460/470/480 through to a VM? If so, how did you do it?? Please help. Thanks!
GPU-passthrough feature in ESXi does not seem to work, only GRID\FirePro GPU. Also i try USB-passthru on Dell R530@ESXi 6.5 but have not been able to get to work.
Successful use GPU-passthrough (and usb-passthru for keyboard mouse and sound) was at home on Z77 motherboard with i5-3550. I use already 2 years R270x and RX480 in Citrix Xenserver 6.2 . Then I tried Citrix Xenserver 6.5\7.0, but did not work.
