How to check actual Linux host RAM usage?

I'm used to VirtualBox which registers simply as process using certain amount of memory so it's properly registered by all kind of task managers under Linux. However it's not the case of VMWare Workstation 12. It uses some spooky magic with mmapping files in /tmp and it doesn't seem to be properly registered by standard Linux memory management tools. Is there any way to check how much memory do VMWare Workstation VMs actually use?

top doesn't show usage, htop neither, KSysGuard & GNOME System monitor neither. "Free" shows total used memory so it does include VMWare but it also includes filesystem ramcaching so it's kind of useless as it always shows 100% is used (apart from short period of time right after system boot when no files are cached yet).
