vCenter VM - Host Crash - Failover

Hello Everyone,

My host running ESXi 6.5 crashed with the PSOD. This host had the vCenter 6.0.x VM running on it. It is a cluster with other hosts.

This host that crashed did not failover over the VMs to the other available hosts. I would think this is expected since it had vCenter running on it. However, based on my research it seems like it still should have failed over all the VMs.

What can I check to verify that if the host that is running vCenter crashes that HA will still kick in?

I have verified that HA does work in this cluster. The other host not running vCenter crashed recently and everything did failover seamlessly.

When a host fails that has prior had HA successfully configured, even if vCenter is down it should failover VMs. To check why that didn't occur you may need to look at logs, and start with see fdm.log which is the main HA log file.
