NSX Eval Licenses

Hi,

I have an NSX eval licenses for 6.3.1. Will this licenses work with NSX 6.3.4? Well, it doesn't, i just wanna confirm that its by design, or something im doing wrong on my end (e.g. assign it somewhere?). Im getting "Operation is not allowed by the applied NSX license. Please check assigned NSX license and vCenter connectivity" when trying to install the host vib components.

Just for double checking in case you missed it, have you assign the license?

Make sure the "Assets' > 'Solutions' for NSX for vSphere 'Is Licensed' is yes

If that's already assigned for license then that is interesting

I also just noticed that in newer NSX releases (for example 6.2.4), NSX Manager Summary's UI also displayed the NSX license usage counts.

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.4 Release Notes

  • License usage reporting: NSX license usage counts are displayed on NSX Manager's Summary UI and also retrievable via API. NSX license usage counts will no longer be reported through vCenter licensing service.

What do you see from NSX Manager Summary's UI?

I'm wondering if there is any additional steps required for the licensing.

Hi there,

You are right, its not assigned. Odd thing is though, i cant even assign it. Licenses >Assets >Solutions shows me a blank screen, i dont have the Action button. The NSX licenses shows up under licenses and under Products. Whats wrong?

What user are you using?
Have you checked that the user have rights access to licensing and to NSX?
