Workstation 14, Host (windows) to Guest (linux) Copy / Paste not working

Hello Everyone,

I have installed Workstation 14 on my WIndows 10 PC and created a VM with a Debian based Linux Distro.

I also have installed both VMware Tools and Open VM Tools on the Linux guest (latest version).

However, though everything is working fine copy/paste from host to guest is not working perfectly.

It does work at first but once I copy something from the guest to host then host to guest copy/paste stops working.

I tried restarting the VMWare Tools service in the Linux guest, tried re-installing VMware tools and rebooting the host.

It's still not working. Is there anyone who can help me in this case?

Disabling/enabling of "cut and paste" in the options window could work.

Otherwise try:

  1. Go into VM / Settings / Options / Guest Isolation
  2. UNCHECK both checkboxes (Enable drag and drop, Enable copy and paste) and click OK.
  3. Shut down the guest, and shut down VMware Workstation
  4. Reboot the host computer

You cannot disable/enable those options while the guest OS is running.
