Does V2V perform sysprep ?

Hi,

If we perform a V2V of an existing VM that is a Domain Member, will it run sysprep automatically ?

OR sysprep will only be run if we choose "Customize Guest Preferences for the Virtual Machine" ?

Besides, in what circumstance do we need to choose "Install VMware Tools on the Destination Virtual Machine" ?

Thanks

Hello,

No. If you want you can run the customize guest preferences for the virtual machine.

Besides, in what circumstance do we need to choose "Install VMware Tools on the Destination Virtual Machine" ?

All you can run at once in the post conversion. Refer the below link,

Thanks for your advice.

My understanding is that we don't need to install VMWare Tools for a V2V (Only required for P2V).  Is it correct ?

Thanks

Hello,

Yes. you are correct. VMware tools are not mandatory for both V2V and also P2V.
