Unable to upgrade from Workstation 10 to 12.5 Pro due to "invalid license"

Hi,

When I try to upgrade my VMWare Workstation from version 10.0.7 to 12.5 Pro, I'm told that my license key is invalid.

It certainly is valid!

I'm sure I registered my copy of v10 when I purchased the upgrade from 7 back in 2013 but that registration seems to have disappeared.

I've tried emailing Support but I've had no response after 3 days.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Thanks!

A license key is valid only for the same major version (in your case, 10.x).  You may *update* to any 10.x.x version for free.  If you want to *upgrade* to a newer (11.x, 12.x, etc.) version, it requires purchasing the upgrade, and obtaining a new license key (if you purchase from VMware, your licenses will be under your account information on the site).

Thanks. But as I said in my post, I am indeed trying to upgrade. More than happy to pay the $200 for the upgrade but during the upgrade process it claims that my existing 10.0 license key is invalid and I can't procede any further.

Sorry, I interpreted your post as that the Workstation 12.x installer was saying your 10.x license key was invalid, which as I explained, certainly is.

Does your existing version 10.x license appear in your My VMware listing?

Sounds like you need to contact sales.
