Using vsphere replication to migrate from old 5.1 infra to VXRail 6.0

Looking for a quick answer.  I haven't ever really looked at vsphere replication before.  I started to this morning and the documentation is pretty vast and before I dive in, if someone could confirm that this would work, I will do the rest of the digging.  So I have 7 esxi 5.1 hosts and have just installed a new 5 node VXRail.  Could I use vsphere replication to migrate off the old infra to the vxrail?

This would be going from an EMC SAN to VSAN as far as storage.

Thanks

I think you can do it. We are doing it in our environment but not to vsan. However, vsphere replication uses network to copy the data so it doesnt matter the underlying storage type. You may try for one test VM before touching the prod vms.

vSphere Replication requires the same vCenter version and same vSphere Replication version at both sites to work. If you are using features specific to a version of ESX, the hosts at both sites would need to be running that as well.
