Verify the proper VMware tools installed and services running inside Guest VMs.

If everything looks fine, try uninstall and re-install the tools.

Can you use the mouse when you access the guest via rdp ?
Sometimes it helps to uninstall the mouse in devicemanager of the guest and reboot.

Try updating the vmTools and Virtual Hardware if outdated. If everything is good, do a clean re-install of VM Tools steps are given below:

Take Downtime of approx 30-45 Min.

Remember Local Administrator and Password, create if its not there.

Take the output of ipconfig /all command if IP configuration(Sometime after clean installation IP configuration gets distorted)

From add remove programs remove the vmtools package .

Go to c:\ProgramFiles(x86) and delete the folder name "VMware".

Mount the VMTools and install again. Reboot once done and check.

Yes - you can. Thats what I do in the same situation.
It is a bit tricky to do but it is possible.
Launch device manager inside the guest and uninstall the mouse pointer device.
Reboot the guest.
On next boot the guestOS wil automatically reinstall the mouse.
Most of the times that will do the trick.
