NSX Upgrade - Edge Gateway

In NSX 6.3.2 upgrade guide, there is below key point after NSX Edge Upgrade.

Would like to know the reason why it is mentioned to turn off vSphere virtual machine startup for the NSX Edge ?

What is the reason for this ?

In a cluster without HA enabled - CVM/Edge/DLRCVM will be in automatic startup list and rest of the compute VM will be in manual startup list. So i think all they are saying is just cross verify for clusters with HA enabled - those managements should not be in Automatic mode list,rather they should remain in manual mode which is the correct setting for HA enabled cluster.

Thanks.

But what i understood from that reference is that they are recommending to keep the VM startup/shutdown in manual mode with vsphere HA enabled.

My understanding is that with vSphere HA enabled, the VM startup/shutdown should be automatic.

Hi,

This is a known issue affecting NSX  6.2.5 and earlier versions and it is been fixed in NSX 6.3

Refer this KB --> NSX Edge virtual machine does not failover during a vSphere HA event (2143998) | VMware KB

To work around this issue we need to remove ESG VMs from auto startup.

I am upgrading from 6.2.2 -> 6.3.2

So after upgrading should i remove the ESG VMs from auto startup.

Already vSphere HA is in place.
