802.1ad, also knowen as QinQ or Double Vlan Tagging

ok i have been hoping Vmware/WSX would finally Grow up and become a Big serious solution.. and I was hoping that it would support QinQ

what is QinQ? 802.1ad , read about it here, IEEE 802.1ad - Wikipedia

yes we can use 4095 and pass all info to the OS and let the OS handle it but we always see systems crashing in our environment when trying to use in a real production environment.

So does anyone know of a way to make this work?? or if anyone from VMware reads these posts, will they get the balls to support it ??

i have a small cluster production site with about 85 Physical servers running Vcenter 5.5, and 6.5.

I have about 3000 Guests, Debiian, Ubuntu and microsoft.

I have a need for QinQ as we are a test environment that users over 4094 vlans, presently I have 2 networks using 4094 vlans each and would finally like to just have one network with QinQ

so If anyone from VMware reads these posts, what is happening with 802.1ad?

will it be finally accepted and supported or do we finally start to look at other products and get rid of this old antique Virtualization method?

Me.
