Auto enabled CBT when VM creation?

Hi

Recently I'm doing project with Networker VM backup.

We needed CBT for incremental backup.

Therefore we have to reboot all VMs.

But the backup engineer said,

their test VM infra doesn't need a CBT enable configuration, its automatically configured..

(Even they don't have VM expert, just install basic ESXi and vCenter)

I googled CBT auto-enabled options.. but nothing founded.

Is it possible?

CBT cannot be auto-enabled as a part of VM creation or after VM creation.

Once a VM is created either by vmware SDK APIs or manually CBT can be enabled. Please refer to CBT KBs

As a part of Backup Process, vmware integrated Backup software will take care of enabling CBT before taking backup of a virtual machine.

As in your case with networker 8.0SP1 & above, to enable CBT have to set VADP_DISABLE_CBT = NO. More is available with networker guide.

If you need incremental backup, then yes you need CBT to be enabled on VM. This should be enabled for each vmdk disk in order to track changes per disk.
