Windows Server Template

Hi, is it possible to create an image/ISO file, the content of this image file is a WIndows Server OS 2012 R2, update this with the recent updates and save this as a template for future installations BUT I would like this to be a sysprep'd image so that by the time I import this image, it has a new SID for the server. Is this possible?

Thanks

Jeff

Hi!

You are writing about templates as they exist in vcenter. You create a VM, install guest OS, install patches and then clone\convert a VM into template. Then you deploy VMs from this template and customize them with a sysprep using wizard or preconfigured customization specifications.

If you just have a standalone ESXi and don't have a vcenter, then you need to copy VM's files and do a sysprep manually.

For example use a PowerCLI script HL Tools - Part 1 - Clone a VM without vCenter - LucD notes
