Does boot camp support bitlocker now?
"Microsoft BitLocker is not compatible with Boot Camp volumes."
If that stance changes we would investigate, otherwise anything we'd do would just be a hack.
Fair enough. My own 'hack' is working nicely for me, so I may document this elsewhere for the benefit of others (making it clear that the procedure is unsupported by Apple and VMware).
Is the SIP disabling requirement because of the bitlocker workaround? That's not something folks should be disabling without very good reason.
I agree, I have never disabled SIP before.
In my testing it is unrelated to BitLocker. At least on 10.13 beta 4, disabling SIP was necessary for any kind of raw disk access (inc. Boot Camp) to work with either Fusion 8.5 or Tech Preview. No Boot Camp is also a known issue for Parallels on 10.13. My assumption is that this is a strict whitelist maintained by Apple that will be updated closer to release. I would appreciate clarification from VMware on this.
Funnily enough, I have had far more trouble with Boot Camp + Fusion on my MBP and 10.13 beta than I have ever had on my *entirely* unsupported Hackintosh...
The language "Microsoft BitLocker is not compatible with Boot Camp volumes." is no longer there, implying that BitLocker is supported in BootCamp by Apple.
Therefore, the question comes up again: Can you run a VMWare Fusion BootCamp VM with BitLocker? I'd be very disappointed at this point if you can't, since I can do this with VirtualBox.
