After I edit /etc/nsswitch.conf to add "cache db" to host:, I can no longer ping hostname.

I am running CentOS 7, and am trying to 'Prepare a Linux Machine for Remote Desktop Deployment'.

This way I can eventually install VMware Horizon Agent for Linux.

However, when I edit /etc/nsswitch.conf  to "host:   cache db files dns myhostname ", I can no longer ping hostname.

Is this an expected result?

Which version are you using? Thanks.

In latest guide (7.2.0) , there is no such requirement Prepare a Linux Machine for Remote Desktop Deployment

Even if you want to set it, you should set "hosts:     cache db files dns", but not "host:   cache db files dns myhostname "
