Running local operating sytem and usb ESXI host same time

Is it possible for me to have access to my local operating system while running the esxi host off a usb stick?  I want to be able to run the host and have access to OS so I can log into the client.  If that is not possible, from what I read I should use a VMware workstation for my host vmware machine?

ESXi basically is just another local operating system. You can not run 2 operating systems natively at the same time.
What you can do is to run your ESXi on USB as a VM inside VMware Workstation - or maybe ( depending on your hardware )  run your locally installed OS as a ESXi -VM.

The first option is way easier to acchieve than the second one.

Thanks a bunch, I figured that is how it worked.  Just wanted to verify.
