AutoHotkey macro to release cursor from VM (and switch desktop)?

I'm running a Win10 VM via Workstation Player on a second desktop (Win10 host) and I'd like to use the context menu key/AppsKey to swap from the VM to the main desktop.

I've made an AHK script that should remap this to the AppsKey, but the Ctrl+Alt to release cursor doesn't work, neither when run from within the VM nor from the host OS.

Is there a way to do this?
