Setup VMW_PSP_RR ESXi 6.5 and MSA 1040

I have bought a MSA 1040 with 4 iSCSI 1Gb port. I need to configure VMW_PSP_RR into two exsi 6.5 hosts.

What can I do? Is the correct configuration?

Then i need to modify the IOPS to 1 ?

Thanks a lot for your support

Hi,

First, make sure your configuration iscsi is correct. You can use VMKPING on your ESXI host in SSH with option -s <MTU pacquage size> and -d for IPv4 to each IP of your storage array IP (Testing VMkernel network connectivity with the vmkping command (1003728) | VMware KB )

Ask with your vendor if he recommends PSP RR configuration for your array. Next, Make sure your design network is correct for RR. (vSwtich and Cie)

After that, I think it's better to add esxcli rule on each ESXi host like this command line to add vendor storage array and PSP rule (vSphere Documentation Center )

esxcli storage nmp satp rule add

But you can validate in a LAB environment before with freenas or other storage software. Be careful if you can't use a LAB environment.

Thank you.

Olivier.

Thanks for your reply.

This is an extract of VMWare comaptibility:

VMware Compatibility Guide - Storage/SAN Search

In the past, with vsphere 5.5 and MSA 2040, i use a commando via SSH to enable all PATH in RR and set IOPS=1

But now whit vsphere 6.5 can I use the same command?

All the environment is in a LAB for testing before start the production environment.

Now I have configure two iSCSI port Group associated with two phisical NIC with 1 active link and 1 unused link. This two port group iSCSI_1 and iSCSI_2 are binding for the iSCSI initiator for each esxi host.

Sure look at the KB in VMware web site. Product version it's for 6.5 too. Smiley Wink
