Do I need "scsi-rste" for ESXi 5.5?

I finally try to upgrade my good old "FUJITSU SIEMENS PRIMERGY RX300 S4" server from ESXi 5.1 to 5.5 (and if at all possible to 6.0).

The running system vib list includes "scsi-rste 2.0.2.0088-1vmw.510.2.23.1483097" which is not compatible with V5.5 (image builder message "needs Version 5.1").

My questions:

  1. Do I really need this module? How can I see, if the module is currently used?
  2. If yes: Where do I find a substitution?

None of the articles on "upgrade from 5.1 to 5.5" mention this module.

If this gives you any comfort/assurance, this is from esxcli software vib get of an ESXi 5.5 VM that I have. So it looks like this replaces the scsi-rste VIB from ESXi 5.1.

Additional info:

I used ESXi-Customizer-PS-v2.5 script. Started with "ESXi-5.5.0-20170304001-standard" and added the special modules from "FTS_FujitsuCustomOfflineBundleESXi51Update2_27312000251_1147951" (including scsi-rste) and "FTS_ServerViewESXiCIMProvider_73006_1167031".

Generates:

"WARNUNG:   VIB VMware_bootbank_scsi-rste_2.0.2.0088-1vmw.510.2.23.1483097 requires esx-version = 5.1.0, but the requirement cannot be satisfied within the ImageProfile."

I'l add the log file.

Thanks a lot! You are right. I just should have a look for "rste" in sted of "scsi*" Smiley Wink
