Hi all.
We have deployed a VDP 6,0.2 over a vSphere 5.5 on which we will integrate a Data Domain as storage for backups.
However, after going to the storage tab there is no "gear icon" to get action list such as "Add Data Domain".
We are running vCenter Server / ESXi hosts 5.5,
We have and up to date Adobe Flash Player Plugin installed
We have tested from different browers above the release requested in the documentation:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 10.0.19 and later.
Mozilla Firefox 34 and later.
Google Chrome 39 and later.
We don't know what can be failing, but at the end as we cannot see the icon to add Data Domain, this integration cannot be done.
Do you have any suggestion/idea what can we do?
Thanks in advance.
Hi all.
It is a new deployment.
Finally we got a solution.
We registered a VDP External Proxy and restarted VDP, and then we got "gear icon".
Seems to be a requirement not defined to proxy ESXi host with Datastore.
Thanks for your support.
Hi,
Have you tried the section from 'Adding a Data Domain System' from the administration guide https://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-60/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vmware-data-protection-administration...
Hi Yezdi.
Yes. It is what I was trying to follow.
The problem is that the gear icon for accessing the "From the Action list, select Add Data Domain" is not present in the Storage Tab.
It seems to be a browser issue, but I'm not 100% sure.
That's why I'm asking if anyone that has experienced same issue can help us with resolving this problem.
Thanks.
hope VDP advanced. Data domain integration is an advanced feature I guess.
Hi Jezdi.
Yes, VDP starting with version 6.0, includes all features that were previously included in VDP Advanced. VDP functionality is included as part of vSphere Essential+ and does not require
a specific license key.
So, as we are running a VDP 6.X version, all feature included in the 5.X Advanced version are included such as adding a Data Domain.
Anyhow, this gear icon not only allows to add Data Domain storage, but also to extend local storage. And we are not being able to see that icon (see attachment)
Interesting. How about the services are they all running?
You could try restarting tomcat using:
# emwebapp.sh --restart (From root of VDP SSH)
Also,
Please provide the exact build number of vCenter. (PS: Hoping it not to be VC 5.5 U3e) Thanks much

Hi Suhas.
Thanks for your kindly support.
In fact, we mad a couple of restart of the VDP VM itself, with same results.
We checked the vCenter Server Build and we got:
VMware vCenter Server, 5.5.0, 4180647 which point to 5.5 U3e (Aug 2016).
Is there any know issue with VDP 6.02 and vCenter Server 5.5U3e ?
BR
Jesus
Yep. There is a JSAFE issue.
Is this a new deployment or existing deployment with backup data?
Also, provide the output for the below command from SSH of VDP:
mccli server show-services
Thanks much
