Failed to convert from VMX to OVF

Hello,

I have a VM running without problem on Workstation. I want to upload it to an ESXi.

No matter If I try File-> Convert to OVF or if I use ofvtool via command line. It stops at 45% without yielding any error and with no log.

C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware OVF Tool>ovftool I:\VM_ORIG\VM_ORIG.vmx E:\VM_CONVERTED.ovf

Opening VMX source: I:\VM_ORIG\VM_ORIG.vmx

Opening OVF target: E:\VM_CONVERTED.ovf

Writing OVF package: E:\VM_CONVERTED.ovf

Progress: 45%

C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware OVF Tool>

The VM has 4 virtual disks and I have removed all .lock files from the original folder.

¿Any clue?

Thanks in advance!

Have a look at the ovftool.log in
%temp%\vmware-banderas\ovftool.log
If you have to remove .lck files first - did your VM not had a clean shutdown last time ?

Yes, I had a clean shutdown. But .lock files were still there.

I'll have a look at that log on monday at work and post the reply.

Thanks for the help!

Open explorer and enter %temp%\vmware-banderas\ovftool.log
Replace "banderas" with your actual username

It doesn't work. I have looked for "ovftool.log" in the entire system with no results.

You can just connect to ESX from Workstation and upload the VM to ESX. You don't have to export the VM to OVF. Try if it works for you.
