    Recompose in Horizon 7

    fborges555 Novice

      Hi gurus

can so one point me to the right literature on where to find information in regard to the new feature that Horizon 7 has brought  in this regard, I have heard that now recomp is real-time and that changes can be a push to the Pool or machine without going through the reboot process.

any thoughts or help on this

      thanks

          Instant Linked Clones

          * Instant Clone Don’t need Refresh, Recompose and Rebalance operations.

          * After the user logs out the VM, his desktop is deleted, and linked clones recomposition is not needed.

          * Instant Clone virtual machines exist for a short while, and when they are deleted, their delta disks space is returned to the shared storage space pool.

          * Instant Clone Technology does not need a database

          Instant Linked Clones

Pool Size: 1,000 Virtual Desktop (VM)

Time to Create a Pool: 25 minutes

Average Time to Create 1 virtual machine (VM): 1.5 seconds

          vs

          View Composer linked clones

Pool Size: 1,000 Virtual Desktop (VM)

Time to Create a Pool: 170 minutes

Average Time to Create 1 virtual machine (VM): 10.2 seconds

Instant clones do not create a higher load on vCenter! In fact, instant clones create significantly less load on vCenter than View Composer clones do during the cloning process.
