question about settings being preserved after upgrading

bare with me here as i'm new at this.We are fixing to upgrade from 4.1 to 5.5 (yea I know we aren't doing to 6 yet) anyways once we do the upgrade it will preserve all the vswitch settings in the exsi host after the upgrade?

Yes, all vSwitch settings will be preserved. Keep in mind if your host is managed by vCenter, you will need to upgrade your vCenter before upgrade the vSphere ESXi hosts.

yea our vcenter is already @ 5.5.0, build 4180647 and will be upgrading the exsi host to 5.5 update 3b . That should be fine right?

Yes, based on your vCenter build, you're running version 5.5 Update 3e and it is compatible with hosts 5.5 Update 3b.

Build 4180647 is the last update of vCenter 5.5 so it will manage all esxi 5.5 hosts including update 3b.  As Richardson said, if you are managing these hosts under vCenter see vSwitch configuration will be preserved.

thanks guys i'll be doing this weekend. first time Smiley Happy the cluster was built by another IT guy and he left while back so i'm being throwed to the fire Smiley Happy
