On vsphere 6.5, after some time (few minutes), VMs VMware Tools appear as not running, If I open the VM console and refresh Web Client, VMware Tools appear as running. Have to do this for every VM in the inventory if I want to see VM info (DNS name, IP address...) or if I want to use the power options (Shutdown guest, Restart guest). Is this a bug? Is there a patch or solution for this?
Reinstall the VMware Tools on the VMs showing as not running.
-- Connect to VM from vCenter Console or Web Client
-- Uninstall VMware Tools
-- Reboot
REMOVE ONLY "if you find any of these files"
-- Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware Tools
-- Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware VDM
-- Delete C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\*.*
-- Delete C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\*.*
-- Delete C:\Documents an Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VDM\*.*
-- SHOT DOWN VM
-- POWER ON VM
-- Install VMware Tools (Complete)
-- Reboot VM
-- Refresh Web Client
