vROPs shows low capacity remaining on network (vDS)

Hi,

Lately, our vROPs started throwing errors on 1 of our vDS that has low network capacity remaining (currently 10%).

Here is a screenshot of it:

We can't seem to understand where the "4014.23 MBps" comes from, and why there is only 10% left.

Can you help us please?

Hello,

This may not be exactly what you are seeing, though it is similar: VMware vRealize Operations Standard shows a 100% workload for networking (1036734) | VMware KB

Let me know if this seems to apply.

Yep I would say that's the reason. Disk and Network metrics have the highest observed value set as the 100% for workload. This is because its not really possible to calculate what 100 is due to different configurations... unlike RAM and CPU.

The way i do this is to smash the storage and Network as hard as possible when I initially build the environment so that I know when I'm getting close to the limit of my infra... But this can change as you add hosts (vSAN) / chnage SSDs / cabling / change links etc...
