wmware workstation pro - automatic connection of usb e-token

Greetings.

     There is a problem with the automatic connection of usb e-token (it is defined in the device manager of the host system as a smart card reader Microsoft Usbccid (WUDF).

When usb e-token is connected to the computer, it is normally defined in host system, and the corresponding gray (Inactive) icon named Aladdin Knowledge Token JC device (As an example, there are several types of similar devices) appears in the VMware guest system.

     But, despite the fact that the option “Automatically connect new usb devices” is enabled in the guest system settings, automatic connection to guest system in focus does not occur (automatic connection of usual usb flash drives works fine).

     You can manually connect the e-token device to the guest system by clicking on its icon and selecting the enable option, it will work fine.

Moreover, if you connect another similar usb e-token device instead of the previous one, it will be determined and automatically connected to the guest system.

     But this only works until the guest system is rebooted, after rebooting the usb e-token will not automatically connect to the guest system again.

Also, after manually enabling a device usb e-token to the first guest system, in other guest systems you can connect the same type devices only after manually disconnecting in the first guest system. If you do not perform a manual disable, the next e-token will connect to the virtual system where it was manually connected, even if this system is out of focus.

     Is there a way to configure automatic connection of Microsoft Usbccid (WUDF) devices (usb e-token) to the guest system in focus?

It is very inconvenient to do a manual enable usb e-token devices in guest system every time you change the e-token in your computer, and then manual disable them, if you work with several devices of this type in several guest systems in parallel.

Software versions:

VMware® Workstation 12 Pro ver 12.5.2 (12.5.6). WMware tools ver. 10.0.10

Host system – Windows 7 Pro 64bit, guest system Windows 7 Pro 32bit

PS: In the 8th version of the VMware workstation the e-token devices are connected to the guest system in focus automatically without additional actions, since 9 versions there are problems with auto-connection.

This KB address auto-connection of USB devices:

Automatically connecting USB devices at virtual machine power on (1648) | VMware KB

For this issue “but this only works until the guest system is rebooted, after rebooting the usb e-token will not automatically connect to the guest system again”, I think you need to configure "autoclean:0" as below:

usb.autoConnect.device0 = "vid:0x781 pid:0x7101 autoclean:0"

However, this auto-connection option in .vmx file seems to conflict with "Automatically connect new usb devices". So your 2nd requirement of connecting USB device to the guest in focus cannot be satisfied at the same time, unless you remove all autoconnect entry in .vmx file.
