Newbie here. Thought I would ask instead of my IT professional.
Ive read the threads re how to recover passwords through supported VM methods, however I had an IT professional try the unsupported method of removing an encrypted root password.
Thankfully a copy of the config file was taken before he commenced the unsupported process (which apparently is corrupt and therefore of no use).
Having tried the unsupported method of resetting a password (which failed), VM tried to launch and at 99% terminated. I am told some message appeared on screen in red but too fast to identify what it said. There is now but a blank screen. All disks seems to be working but VM will not launch.
Does anyone have a suggestion as how to remedy this vague unsupported error other than start again ??
It would be good to be able to start VMware even if we cannot log in due to not having the username and password to access the servers!!!!!
