Hey y'all,
I am new to ESXi and have tried to install with some difficulty. I was eventually successful at getting it on my Mac. I have not been able to get anything installed. I've tried Google but I have frustrated myself and kinda sorta quit until I know better or learn better. Going to list what I want to do:
1. Install OS X (x2) - One of these may run unifi controller
2. Install CentOS/Ubuntu (have not made up my mind - leaning towards CentOS)
3. Get every OS on the network with its own individual IP
4. Forward port from OS install - I assume this should be possible
So here is where I was stuck last time:
Attempting to install an OS using external media (did not work)
- How do I copy the iSO file to the DataStore?
- I don't have any disc's of the OS X installs - how do I create an iSO of the downloaded install file (my way has not worked so far but...that also may be because the install files were not in the DataStore)
How the heck do I "manage" or view the actual operating systems while on the mini? I have my mini attached to my TV
I have heard of controlling everything remote - VNC of some sort?
If you can point me in the correct direction and give some advice as cool as ice water on a summer day then I think I'll be fine.
In the meantime I am going to try a reinstall of the OS on the mini.
