I am trying to convert physical windows small business server 2011 to an ESXi 6.5 environment including vCenter Server 6.5.
So far I tried the following methods:
- Simple easy going VMWare converter standalone 6.1 conversion (powered on mode) --> Convert succeeds but virtual Server is not functioning properly.
- Same as above but stopped services like SQL Server, Exchange... --> same result!
- Acronis offline Backup and Restore in Vsphere Server via Vcenter Server 6.5 --> same result!
- On the faulty virtual server, I tried to install VMWare tools --> it got better but things like Internet Explorer or exchange services are failing to start.
I also tried to do it with Cold Clone 3.03 and an ESXi 4.0u2, then V2V to an ESXi 5.5 and then to 6.5 but Cold Clone was not able to identify the physical network adapters of the machine.
Any tips or practices that will do the trick?
