VMware Workstation 12 Player crashes virtual machine on startup

I updated VMware workstation the other day and now when I try to boot my virtual machine, it freezes during the loading phase (host is Windows 10). I've attached an image of the screen I get if I try to boot the VM.

So far I've tried restarting the computer and reinstalling VMware Workstation.

Any help is much appreciated, all my work is on this VM.

It is a violation of Apple's licensing to run their OS on non-Apple hardware.  We cannot help you here, as VMware could get into legal trouble.

Didn't realize this.. are you able to walk me through downgrading to the previous version?
