SCO Open Server Release 5 to vm machine in esxi 6.1

I have a physical server which is open source SCO release 5 and trying to convert to vm esxi 6.1 .

Bad part is I don't have credentials to login to that physical server.

Is there any way to take the harddisk out and recover the data and convert it to vm machine. ?

Will it work. or could I please know any other better ideas and software for the conversion ?

Yes - that is possible. You create a dd-image of the full disk and then use that image as a flat.vmdk. Only thing to do next is to create a descriptorfile manually.
But the VM will not boot - without root access you will not be able to adjust the driver-configuration.
VMware-Converter is no help for this task - nor am I aware of any other P2V tool that can handle SCO-operating systems.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I am just new to this Linux/unix world. and one of our new client has this old legacy sco open source server. so just trying to convert it.

I am fine with the part creating a dd image of the full disk.

What do you mean by creating a descriptor file manually ? how does it work ?
