vSphere VM Basic Networking questions......

Hello guys,

I have a questions which is probably on the niveau of a DAU....

I have set up and ESXi 5.5 Host and installed vSphere on my desktop.

I created some VMs and now i dont want to to use the console every time instead i want to use RDP.

Now my question is, how can i connect to my VMs via RDP?

At the beginning i set a manually ip to all VMs because i wanted to create an own lab network (172.16.0.0), but when the vms are in a own network, i can't reach them and so can't connect via RDP.

Then i deleted the manually IPs and let them get one automaticly. Now the Virutal Server is in the same network like my computer (which is connected directly to the router), but i cant even ping it...

Can someone help me here?

And an additional question: Do someone have a tutorial to set up and own lab with vmware where its all described step by step?

Thank you very much and sorry for the stupid questions... Smiley Happy

Is there a firewall enabled - like Windows firewall? I think that will drop pings (maybe RDP also) by default which could hinder troubeshooting... Assume RDP is enabled / not locked down on the servers? Can you ping or RDP from one server to another

Maybe you could give some more info on your network config?
