    No Boot Device

    dschwer Lurker

We are running a Dell T710 with ESXI 5.5 .  We had a RAID foreign config show up on our server and we were able to fix it, however when we now boot, the  server shows no boot device available.  We are assuming that the MBR record is corrupt.  What is the best way to get ESXI loaded without causing data loss. Can we just reinstall from the CD and then attach the data stores

If you are sure that there is no VM/Data on the local datastore, you can just reinstall from the CD and then attach the datastores.

If you are not sure whats available on the local datastore, Please select "Install ESXi, preserve VMFS datastore" during installation.
