VM with RDM

Hi

  I have  windows cluster VM is mapped with RDM coming from dell storage .Now we want to move RDM from dell to Hitachi.

What is the best way to migrate RDM from one stoarge from another.

I guess, there is no LUN migration between different storage devices, so you have to add new LUN from Hitachi and configure the LUN as cluster LUN  then remove your Dell LUNs.

Storage vendors don't have tools whcih support this type of requirement .

May be you can check with thirparty  tools for this  else  present this lun to another server replicate all files and folders using tools like robo copy

and remove old LUN and present new RD with  same scsi id and name .

Maybe Converting a virtual disk into a Raw Device Mapping (3443266) | VMware KB is an option for you.

If you want to go this way, make sure that the source .vmdk descriptor/mapping file contains the correct size (in case the LUN size was increased without recreating the descriptor file).
