IP pools in vCenter

Hello. I am interested in using IP pools in vCenter. I just want to make sure I understand one thing before implementing this.

The IP network which gets defined in the newIP pool has to be unique? In other words, no other server / equipment on the network should have IP in this range which is going to be used by the new IP pool?

vCenter does not check if an IP address is already in use by a device outside if the IP pool. So yes, the IP pool has to be an empty range.
