help with GPU passthrough ATI

hey everyone! Thanks in advance for the help. I apologize, as this question has probably been asked numerous times; yet i couldn't find the answer :S

I have an RX 480 i am trying to passthrough to a windows VM on ESXi 6.5

I have heard of many people doing this. I know the steps to enable passthrough on a device, but this card is greyed out. Is it bad practice to edit the /etc/vmware/esx.conf file?

Also, this is not a "shared" graphics card. It's not necessary to use as i have onboard graphics.

Thank you in advance!

Your motherboard and CPU need to support either Intel Directed I/O (VT-d) for Intel CPUs or AMD I/O Virtualization Technology (IOMMU) for AMD CPUs to passthrough PCI devices to a VM

Check your BIOS and see if its enabled, if you dont see the option at all then your CPU or Motherboard probably dont support it

I do have Vt-d enabled and available on this machine. I have successfully passed through a couple NIC's and a M1015 sata card.

In that case.

I found a guide while lurking around, seems to be a good step by step
